Rent an Apartment or Home?

You still need coverage!  A common misconception by renters may be that you and your property are covered under your landlord’s insurance policy.  This is not the case.  In the event of fire or other catastrophic damage, the landlord’s insurance would cover the building and their property but not yours.  So, where does that leave you?  Having to replace everything and basically start over.  Make sure you cover your items so a bad situation doesn’t get worse.

What can you cover?

  • Appliances and Furniture
    • Bed
    • Washing Machine
    • Refrigerator
  • Clothing
  • Jewelry
  • TV

You can also include Liability so if someone falls or is injured in your home, you could be covered.  It can also cover “loss of use”, so if a catastrophy does occur and you aren’t able to occupy the home, it may cover hotel stays and other expenses.
